This class is for the beginner with "two left feet" or no formal dance instruction. It begins with the very basic exercise of walking to music and becoming aware of how to use your feet and stand properly. Taking this class may begin the start of many years of lots of fun in dancing. We will work on basic patterns, concentrating on essential elements to strengthen your ability to dance with various partners which is great for building confidence
These classes differ from ordinary ballroom and latin. Although it is based on the Bronze American and South African Syllabus, we concentrate on enjoying ourselves while meeting people and learning fun steps. No examinations!
It includes some unique South African steps such as the Sakkie.
It will allow you to dance comfortably and confidently to 90% music played at functions such as weddings, balls etc.. No dance partners required. If you are looking for a partner, please feel free to post on the partners wanted page.
These classes are offered at 3 levels:
Level I, Level II and Level II.
We will do two social workshops for each level, learning 12 dances in total.
Dances include the following:
Ballroom: Two-step, Waltz, Tango, Sakkie, Sokkie
Latin: Cha-Cha, Samba, Rumba, Mambo
Modern: Boogie, Swing, Rock 'n' Roll
Level I- Workshop 01 will be taught over 6 weeks. Each week we will learn a new dance. Workshop 01 will start on the 27th of April 2002.
We will have Social evenings every 3rd week. Social evenings will give you the opportunity to practice what you've learned in a "real life" party atmosphere.
